Security Challenges & Concerns in Thin Client / Terminal Server - Cyberoam Whitepaper

چکیده
A thin client, also dubbed a lean or slim client, is a computer or an application that depends heavily on some other computer (its server) to fulfil its traditional computational roles. Thin client usage results in lower administrative costs and greater security. Since all processing occurs on a server and is centrally managed, the local environment is stateless and the hardware has fewer points of contact with processing activity resulting in a lower probability of error.

Usage of Thin-client / Server Architecture in Computer Aided Education
With the advances of technology, thin-client / server architecture has become popular in multi-user / singlenetwork environments. Thin-client is a user terminal in which the user can login to a domain and run programs by connecting to a remote server. Recent developments in network and hardware technologies (cloud computing, virtualization, etc.) have made the thin-client / server architecture ...
متن کاملNT Security in an Open Academic Environment
Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) was faced with the need to secure its PeopleSoftOracle business system in an academic environment that has no firewall. To provide protected access to the database servers for NT-based users all over the site while not hindering the lab’s open connectivity with the Internet, we implemented a pseudo three-tier architecture for PeopleSoft with Windows Ter...
متن کاملCloud Terminal: Secure Access to Sensitive Applications from Untrusted Systems
Current PCand web-based applications provide insufficient security for the information they access, because vulnerabilities anywhere in a large client software stack can compromise confidentiality and integrity. We propose a new architecture for secure applications, Cloud Terminal, in which the only software running on the end host is a lightweight secure thin terminal, and most application log...
متن کاملReducing power consumption of mobile thin client devices
The thin client computing paradigm shifts processing capabilities from the device to the network. Applications are executed on network servers and the terminal functionality is limited to capturing user input and rendering the display updates. Since the amount of processing by the terminal is reduced, thin clients are potentially energy efficient devices, making them highly appealing to mobile ...

Cloud computing has changed the entire process that distributed computing used to present e.g. Grid computing, server client computing. Cloud computing describes recent developments in many existing IT technologies and separates application and information resources from the underlying infrastructure. Cloud computing security is an important aspect of quality of service from cloud service provi...
